Southwestern Ontario has a nearly endless list of summer festivals for you, your friends, and your family to enjoy.

From cultural festivals to music festivals to food and drink festivals, there’s something for everyone. Here are a few of our favourites:


Canada Day in Downtown Kitchener

Date: July 1

Location: 200 King Street W, Kitchener, ON.

Time: 5:00 pm – 10:30 pm

Price: FREE

This annual event is free and features live music, food, drink, and fireworks in celebration of Canada Day!

This year, entertainment will include The Reklaws, Emily Reid, Jessica Mitchell, and Jessie T!

The night is capped with a huge fireworks display from the roof of City Hall.

Downtown Kitchener Ribfest and Craft Beer Show

Date: July 19-21

Location: Victoria Park

Time: Friday | 12pm – 10pm, Saturday | 12pm – 12am, Sunday | 12pm- 6pm

Price: FREE

Come for the mouth-watering ribs and chicken, stay for the Ontario craft beer, live entertainment, Kids Fun Zone, and more! The 16th annual famous downtown Kitchener Ribfest will be a treat.

Kitchener Blues Festival

Date: August 8-11

Location: Downtown Kitchener

Time: Thursday | 7pm – 11pm, Friday | 6pm – 11pm, Saturday | 12pm – 11pm, Sunday | 12pm – 6pm

Price: FREE (except Thursday night’s fundraising concert)

One of Kitchener’s biggest summertime events, the Blues Festival takes over downtown and Kitchener’s City Hall to bring you the best names in blues. With plenty of places to eat and shop in the heart of Kitchener, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.


Sun Life Financial Uptown Waterloo Jazz Festival

Date: July 19-21

Location: Waterloo City Hall

Time: Friday | 3:30pm – 9:00 pm, Saturday | 3:00pm – 9:00pm, Sunday | 12:30pm – 3:00pm

Price: FREE

This 27-year-old festival sees over 35,000 festival-goers over the three days and there’s something for everyone.

From a solid lineup of artists, to before and after parties at local restaurants, to jazz workshops, make sure to drop by beautiful uptown Waterloo for great music and good eats.


Ribfest Guelph

Date: August 23-25

Location: 709 Woolwich St. (Riverside Park)

Time: Friday | 12pm- 11pm, Saturday | 11am – 11pm, Sunday | 11am – 8pm

Price: FREE (Donations to the Rotary Club of Guelph accepted at the gate)

It’s the Ribfest that’s SO much more!

With nearly continuous live music, the Gregg Mitchell Memorial Classic Car Show, and eight different rib vendors, there’s a flavour of ribs and entertainment for everyone! The little ones can enjoy activities by Magical Midways, the Guelph Library Bookmobile, and the Guelph Grotto.

Hillside Festival

Date: July 12-14

Location: Guelph Lake Island

Time: All-weekend

A unique music and cultural festival, the Hillside Festival on Guelph Lake Island is something you need to experience.

It’s a music festival, it’s workshops, it’s culture, it’s eating, it’s drinking, it’s dancing, it’s camping, it’s in nature, it’s wholly unique and age-appropriate for everyone of every demographic.

Location: Bissell Park, Elora, ON

Held along the banks of the Grand River, Riverfest is going into its 11th year and 2019 will be headlined by the musical phenoms from St. Catharines, City and Colour.

Come to one of the most picturesque areas of the province and experience a great music festival.


Fergus Scottish Festival & Highland games

Date: August 9-11

Location: Fergus, ON

Time: All weekend

At 74 years young, this festival celebrates local Scottish heritage and features world-renowned talent and entertainment.

There’s Celtic music, crafts for kids, bagpipes, tug of war, Highland dancing, storytelling, singing, and so much more.
