Scrap Metal from Auto Recycling—the Enviro Benefits
Auto recycling and scrap metal yards don’t look very glamourous or trendy to people driving by—but they are incredibly eco-friendly. We have never been so on-trend as we are now. Our only major challenge is teaching the general public that our rather industrial-looking scrap yard is actually an eco paradise. Seriously.
To help you understand why scrap metal and auto recycling is such an environmentally-friendly process—allow us to highlight some of its eco benefits…
Scrap Metal from Auto Recycling—the Enviro Benefits
Below we have listed some of the major environmental concerns in the car production industry—and how auto recycling helps:
- Mining
We all know the terrible effects of mining on the environment, including its energy needs, effluent waste, poisonous runoff, pollution of groundwater and other environmental hazards. It also destroys natural habitats. All of these elements listed above are some of our biggest environmental challenges. Recycling scrap metal, like steel, helps prevent millions of tons of steel from being mined every year.
- Less ByProduct Use
Once iron ore has been mined it requires hundreds of thousands of tons of byproducts, like limestone, to be processed into steel and other metals. Auto recycling prevents the processing of new metals, just as it does the mining of those raw ingredients.
- Less Garbage
The amount of space taken up by scrap cars and their parts in our landfills is mind boggling. Auto recycling keeps those parts and pieces out of our landfills—including their toxic fluids. The garbage isn’t just in our landfills though…you can find scrap cars on neighbour’s properties, in empty lots and even in nature as people try to avoid paying to dispose of the vehicle.
- Toxic Fluids
This one is a big one…every year the auto recycling industry saves the equivalent of more than 8times the Exxon Valdez spill, of caustic fluids from entering our ground and water. Without auto recyclers like us, the amount of toxic oils and fluids will continue to be one of our greatest unheard of environmental disasters.
- The Impact
Recycling just ONE car is equivalent to recycling over 100,000 cans in your blue bin
Auto recycling is the eco movement in the automotive industry. Take part in it. You won’t only be saving the earth, but also putting money back into your pocket when you sell a scrap car—and of course keeping more money in your pocket when you purchase our high-quality used auto parts.
