What happens to recycled cars?
The time has come and you’ve made the decision to recycle your car. You bring it to Logel’s, hand over the keys, and say one last goodbye. Then you turn around, head out the door while thinking about the memories that were made in your old vehicle. But what happens to your vehicle after you leave the lot? You may not know this, but when you recycle your car at Logel’s in Kitchener, your car goes on an adventure around the world!
The first thing we do when you drop off your car to be recycled is to bring it back into our shop. Once it’s there, we drain it of all dangerous fluids and safely dispose of them. Next, we remove all of the parts that still have life in them and can be used in other vehicles and add them to our catalogue of quality used parts.
Once all viable parts have been removed, we schedule the vehicle bodies to be transported to a shredder, where it goes through a machine to shred the vehicle’s remains. Once it has been shredded, a large magnet is used to sort through and organize the metals. Once all the metals are properly sorted, they begin the long journey to China where they are used to create new products!
